I grew up just outside Philadelphia and moved to New York City shortly after graduating from Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, PA. I arrived in the fall of 2002, a city still deeply affected by the events of September 11, 2001, and in the process of rebuilding. My first job in New York was supporting people impacted by that trauma—those who had lost loved ones, experienced job or industry loss, or faced displacement and post-traumatic stress. It was a challenging entry into the field, but those early years taught me the importance of being fully present with people and listening deeply.
I continued working with individuals affected by trauma, including survivors of domestic violence and children exposed to abuse, while pursuing my Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from New York University.
After graduation, I focused my work on children, teenagers, and their families. In this role, I used play therapy, creative arts, and cognitive behavioral techniques to help young people identify and express their needs. I also worked closely with parents to strengthen communication skills, improve co-parenting, and develop practical solutions for managing their children’s behaviors.
Later, I joined an intensive outpatient day treatment program, helping people with severe and persistent mental illness manage symptoms and build skills for independent living. Alongside my private practice, I continue to provide clinical supervision to staff serving clients with intellectual or physical disabilities. I currently hold social work licenses in New York, New Jersey, and Arizona, and I am awaiting full enactment of the Social Work Compact Licensure, which will allow me to practice in additional states. I have been practicing as a therapist for 19 years.
Outside of my clinical work, I am a daughter, sister, wife, and mother of three children. I am also an avid runner, a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200), and I spent about ten years keeping bees—an experience that taught me a lot about patience, care, and the beauty of nature.
